Special Programs

  • 21st Century Community Learning Center: 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) is an out of school time program offered free of charge through a federal grant administered by the New Mexico Public Education Department.  The program offers academic, leadership, and enrichment opportunities for students and families.  Click here for more information. 

  • Fine Arts Programs: Española Public Schools receives Fine Arts Education Act programming to all K-6 school sites, this program offers opportunities for elementary students to participate in fine arts activities, including visual arts, music, theater and dance. Our school utilizes its fine arts funding to provide Art Smart programming for all kindergarten students.  

  • Bilingual & EL Services: Española Public Schools implements a Heritage Language (Spanish or Tewa) instructional programs at all school sites and at most grade levels (K-12) as staff is available. Española Public Schools also offers English Language Development (ELD) to English Learners (ELs) as needed at all school sites. EL services are enhanced and supported through Title III program funding.  All kindergarten students at Los Ninos receive Spanish Heritage Language programming.  Click here for more information. 

  • Indian Education Services: Española Public School's Indian Education Department strives to provide a culturally-appropriate and responsive educational experience, while providing a quality education for the capacity and sustainability of our Native American students and their tribes, while providing and strengthening community, cultural relations, and understandings within the Española Valley.   • HOPE Program: The Homeless Opportunities = Power in Education program supports students who are experiencing unstable housing, doubled-up situations, homelessness or inadequate living conditions. HOPE strives to improve training, identification, enrollment, stability and success in school from pre-school to high school to post-secondary education.  Students Living in unstable housing or in doubled up situations may be eligible for support services at their school sites.  Click here for more information. 

  • Title I Program: Title I provides financial assistance to districts and schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards. Our school utilizes its Title I funding to provide enhanced technology for data-driven intervention. Click here for more information.   

  • Inquiry Based Science Education: The Inquiry Science Education Consortium (ISEC) nurtures partnerships and cultivates excellence in public education in Northern New Mexico. ISEC is the LANL Foundation's flagship K-12 Program, dedicated to increasing equity and access to quality STEM education for students in grades K–6 throughout Northern New Mexico. The program initiated early alignment with the Next Generation Science Standards and supported the State in advocating for its NM STEM Ready! Science Standards. Click here for more information. 

  • New Mexico Pre-K Program:  Our school offers a full day, free pre-K class for up to 20 students through the New Mexico Pre-K program.   New Mexico PreK is a voluntary program funded by the state of New Mexico. The PreK program began in 2005 to ensure that every child in New Mexico has the opportunity to attend a high-quality early childhood education program before going to kindergarten.   • 3Y/4Y Pre-K Program:  Española Public Schools offers a special education preschool program designed to help qualified 3 and 4 year old children who have developmental disabilities or delays before they reach school age.  Children must be identified as either having a disability or significant delay in one or more of the following areas of development in order to qualify: 

    • Visual Impairment
    • Hearing Impairment
    • Orthopedic or Motor Impairment
    • Chronic Health Impairment
    • Speech/Language Impairment
    • Intellectually Disabled
    • Emotional/Behavioral Disturbance>
    • Autism/Pervasive Developmental Disorder
